I Object (Copy)

Off Cuts is a collaboration between longtime friends Angus Brown and Louis McGowan, and explores their respective, and at times intertwined, image and object-based practices. Sharing an interest in the fabrication of our built and manufactured world, the show exists as an inquiry into how resourcefulness shapes new outcomes.

Located within the classic Victorian terrace house of Gallery 17, Off Cuts refers to contemporary shifts in domestic spaces and the origins of the materials that form and accompany them. The works attempt to illustrate the tension between nature and the regiment of the standardised object world we inhabit.

I Object

I OBJECT negotiates the space between the practical and the emotional, the mass-produced and the personal, the cerebral and the corporeal. By transforming utilitarian forms and found materials into surreal bodies, Nissassa Bacci and Peta Treble give everyday objects agency. Asking questions around various experiences of consciousness, the role ‘stuff’ has in determining our identity, as well as playing with perceptions of reality, Bacci and Treble play with notions of objectification and personification.

I Miss You Already

I Miss You Already explores the relationship between versions of selves and others; past, present and future. An array of paintings, drawings and writing will allow insight into moments of bittersweet nostalgia, sweet and sad letting go’s and missing parts of yourself and others that you sometimes probably and most times definitely won’t experience again — in turn, forcing us to reflect on savouring every sweet and bitter moment that comes and passes.
